Teen Achievers
Subject: College/Career Readiness, Social Emotional Learning
Age Group: Freshman-Senior
Time Requirements: 1 meeting per week after school
- Joliet West High School: Tuesdays 3:15-4:15 p.m.
- Joliet Central High School: Wednesday 3:15- 4:15 p.m.
Description: Teen Achievers focuses on providing underrepresented students and/or first generation college-bound students with knowledge, skills, and unique experiences in order to assist them with choosing a post-secondary path of their choosing. Teen Achievers offers after school programming (topics include: stress/anxiety management, test-taking skills, career-readiness, leadership development, financial planning, exploring post-secondary options, applying for scholarships, etc.), evening workshops, local college visits on days out of school, a 3-4 day Spring Break out-of-state college tour trip, a 2-night Downtown Chicago senior retreat, and summer programming.
Learning Targets: Students will be able to explore a number of post-high school options (college, trade school, workforce, etc.) and have a well-rounded understanding of each option.
