Lenses on Loughborough Living.

This project documents the varied range of housing that has been built over the years in my hometown of Loughborough in Leicestershire, England. With a population of around 65,000, Loughborough is the largest settlement in Leicestershire outside the city of Leicester itself. Its population lives in a diverse range of dwellings, from Victorian workers’ houses to brand-new suburban homes, and nearly every other kind of house that can be found in a provincial Midlands town.

This project draws from my long-held interest in architecture and is largely informed by my research on photographers of the Düsseldorf school of photography, particularly Bernd and Hilla Becher. The ethos of my project is to understand the techniques used in the works of the photographers that I have researched, and to interpret it in my own context through my photography and its presentation.
