The noir genre of photography is derived from movies where various filming techniques were used to create a visual sense of tension. In my photographs of Jed, this is expressed in his posture: backed against a cage in the corner of the basement, existing in a superposition of vulnerability and dominance. In this way, I believe that this photograph channels the essence of this subgenre of photography.
