The pixel stretch, a post-production technique first popularised in 2008, became a viral trend in the spring of 2026. I largely credit this resurgence to the photographer George Swandells, who in March 2026 posted a popular series of automotive photographs edited with this technique on his automotive photography Instagram account, @swanautomotive, through which I became aware of the trend. Consequently, I decided to utilise this technique in an image of a diecast vehicle, taken in the studio at Leicester College as part of my Miniature Motoring series of diecast vehicle photographs, for my final project in the second year of my Level 3 Photography BTEC.
