Regards,
Just want to introduce myself and affirm/ notify you of my interest in participating in and learning about CERT Training and Community Emergency & Disaster preparedness.
After reaching out to a few Escambia County, Pensacola, and Florida Department of Health departmental contacts, with a training/skills list, about the availability of any potential volunteer opportunities; I was pointed in the direction of the BRACE Team, as a possible lead, to the type of opportunity that could fit my skillset & ambitions and could allow me to participate in and contribute to the community.
With those aforementioned ambitions being the achievement of the following objectives:
Applying these skills, experience, and time toward interests in Emergency Preparedness, Nanotechnology, Biomedical Research, Failure Analysis, and Environmental Safety Best Practices to help achieve, solve, and/or contribute to the objectives, problems, and projects of a team that is able to provide a service to the community and/or society.
Continuing to learn and educate myself and others about opportunities to help raise awareness of the importance of Emergency Preparedness and Environmental Safety in the fields of Nanotechnology, Biomedical Research, and the everyday Community.
Raising awareness of the indigent & homeless populations and facilitating communication about how we could encourage civic participation and treatment, from and for, individuals who are struggling or have struggled with poverty, mental health, and or physical health issues.
Please see below if you want to know more.
Respectfully,
John T. Winskas

January of 2009, I moved out of my parents' house and into the apartments at Hillsborough Community College and enrolled in Hillsborough Community College; After reading The rise and Fall of The Third Reich, Fight club, Choke, lullaby (not sure if I finished lullaby), Blood Meridian Or The Evening Redness in The West and maybe some other books; I went to a super bowl party and after giving a speech about John Adams and Alfred Thayer Mahan; I Ended up failing out of Hillsborough Community College (Failed out of college a third time ). During the next year I started Training and working out at golds gym, running a couple miles, doing sit-ups until failure, push-ups until failure, and bridges until failure between every lap; and playing basketball almost every day and getting kind of tan.
During this time, I Attempted to sign up for the Marines, a misspelled name, caused me to have to reschedule my ASVAB test; I ended up scheduling my ASVAB with the Airforce due to the spelling error. After taking the ASVAB with the Airforce I was assigned a date to return to the recruiting center that (fall?). I continued training running, working-out, playing basketball every day; shortly before my signing date with the Airforce; while landing after maybe dunking a basketball; I tore a few ligaments in my ankle; after a visit with a trainer at the University of Tampa; it was determined that my ankle would require the third reconstructive surgery of my life after the 2 reconstructive surgeries on my left knee and multiple knee scoping procedures, 2 hernia repairs and a hydrocele repair, that required a mesh and 2 4 inch scars on either side of my Gentelia. Surgery was scheduled for that winter and planned a drive to champaign for my surgery.
Before Halloween I drove up to Champaign, Ill, during the 16-hour drive to Champaign, Ill, I listened to Thus Spak Zarathustra beginning an interest in Fredrich Nitsche and the foundations and beginnings of Freudian psychology in Nietzschean philosophy. After surgery, at Carl Foundation Hospital 09/29/2009, while in Champaign, I found a book titled CHE a revolutionary life. While in bed rest after the surgery and during rehab in my parents' basement, I began to read about Guevara's Early Life and reading and writing habits as a teenager and during his first stint in medical school and learning about the change that a normal middle-class kid could make if they, radicalize themselves, dedicating themselves to their studies, learning, reading, and or achieving;"; "and you may not need to run from your empathy for others and that the empathy that creates the radicalization is a blessing and not a burden if you could find a way to channel the repressed hurt from the empathy you have towards others and use it to fuel your own ambition and or the ambition of society."- unknown source ; and I played video games ; I beat/finished Drakes Uncharted; played Tyler Zimmerman in Tekken (Best character: Eddie Gordo); Dropped 4-5oo yards with Cutler a couple times; might of got B. Marsh 25-30 receptions 300 yards it was mainly screen passes though. Spent thanksgiving and Christmas 2009 in Champaign, IL, read Suttree.

2011-Student-HCC-Ybor
During the Summer Term 2011 I left my job to focus on studying Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics; changing my main campus to HCC YBOR, where I continued to earn 11 A's and 1 B, made the Dean's list, and Graduated with an associate in arts degree with High Honors , Earned an Academic Achievement Award in Biological Sciences and Joined the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society . During this time, I bought a USF Parking pass and spent my weekends at the USF Library and playing basketball.
2012-Summer Nanotechnology Resource and Education Center
After I graduated, I transferred to USF to study Chemical Engineering, during a tour before being enrolled at the University of South Florida; The tour group walked by a building named the Nanotechnology Research & Education Center otherwise known as the NREC. I later revisited the NREC with resume in hand for an interview with the current director of the facility, after mentioning I was Washing dishes before transferring to the NREC; The current director of the facility mentioned that he also washed dishes; and said I could volunteer at the facility; he suggested starting training on the dicing saw. After obtaining my Student ID I was allowed to volunteer and began my nanotechnology education assisting the staff and graduate researchers at the NREC as a volunteer engineer assistant, research engineer assistant, and research scientist assistant training on the wafer dicing saw, x-ray crystallography diffractometer, and clean room safety procedure that summer.

In the summer of 2012 while assisting and training with (Rich Everly) the Cleanroom Engineer at the NREC; The Metrology Research Engineer suggested asked if I knew what a Jacobs ladder was; After responding no; He suggested that he recently came into possession of a couple 6Kv 100mA oil igniters and suggested that if I was interested I should build a Jacobs ladder; After assuring me the 6Kv 100mA Jacobs ladder was only lethal if you took a direct shock to the heart, or for a child he handed me two copper wires, and I started my first electrical project ever! The Cleanroom engineer supplied a power cord and let me borrow a wire stripper and provided instructions on how to strip the power cord; and after maybe seeing me leave the cleanroom engineer suggested that I make sure the cord is not plugged into the power strip while splicing wires. With those safety precautions in mind, I began to try a built my first prototype of a 6Kv 100mA Jacob's ladder: Followed by 2-3 more prototypes & improvements with the help of the NREC Staff and the USF machine shop that resulted in the Jacobs ladder that may still be on display at the NREC.
After completing/ attempting to complete multiple projects; and continuing to assist the cleanroom engineer with cleanroom maintenance and assisting graduate student staff members. Eventually, was invited to SEM training by the Metrology Research Engineer.
Began to train on the Focused Ion Beam observing Metrology Research Scientist FIB Sessions and assisting the Metrology Research Scientist with Carbon Sputtering of Samples, filling up the nitrogen tank, pouring liquid nitrogen into a liquid nitrogen. Trained on thermionic electron source filament replacement.
Notice: Catahoulas are an amazing animal but A Working dog is a Responsibility; Always take that responsibility seriously and if you cannot handle the responsibility, time, and effort to give a working dog the proper attention/training it needs make sure to find someone who is able to handle the animal.
Before buying a working dog or puppy:
Check out Leerburg.com-want to point out a critical source for myself in learning the best practices of selecting a working puppy and to learning about and stressing the responsibility/duty of owning a working dog; also, in finding what supplies you might need for a first-time working dog owner.
Read The Kholer Method to Guard Dog Training book; Read Tom Abbey's Catahoula Training book; Maybe read some dog psychology. Planned to get a dog for months ahead of time and read/prepared and took the breed seriously.
Once again, an invaluable resource please visit the Leerberg site especially if you are a first-time working dog owner even if you are not planning on training for competition!Learned so much from Leerberg!
Spent 10's to 100's of hours training; bite training; obedience training; trained dog to bite toys/rope on command; trained dog to have a piece of cheese placed on its nose and wait for my command to eat it; Trained to resist chasing geese unless order given; Indoor/ leash training. Ran with Comrade in mornings before school/work sometimes/ Leash trained to run beside me/ slightly to behind my right leg while running; Trained to heal/ignore other dogs when walking/running. Had him sit and distracted him/ gave him treats tried to make sure the dogs attention was on me if another dog approached. If talking to another walker jogger dog was required to sit; Able to train him to sit at the end of the dock with me while watching the water/weather/boats. House trained to wake me up in the morning when it was bathroom time. Flipped him on his back and held him there when he got aggressive; (didn't hit or hurt him (just held him until he stops biting/ aggressive behavior)).
Project v.1 Jacob's ladder
Used pliers to turn copper wire around positive and negative terminal of the oil igniter cut tip of power cord and peeled back rubber protective coating, used wire stripper to strip positive & negative wires spliced power cord wires to positive and negative wires of oil igniter plugged in device to power strip. listened for buzzing noise. unplugged from the power strip. adjusted copper wires 1 centimeter at base to 2 centimeters at top of ladder.
added a switch; un-spliced power cord wires from positive and negative wires of power supply; Spliced positive and negative wires to positive & negative wires of switch; spliced positive and negative wires at other side of switch to positive and negative wires of terminal; plugged power cord into power strip hopefully with the switch in the closed position. Flipped switch to open position, observed space between copper wires for ionized air/plasma between copper wires. Observed density differential caused by the heat of the plasma; creating an upward movement of the plasma between the copper wires until reaching the apex or top of the ladder. Then the dissolution of the plasma at the top of the device and the formation of a new plasma at the bottom of the copper wires where the copper wires are closest.
Prototype v.2 Jacob's ladder
Used brackets to fasten 2 plywood boards together at a 90-degree angle to protect individuals from the ionized air/plasma between the copper wires and fastened power supply to the bottom board.
Prototype v.3 Plexi-glass safety cover
Unfastened power supply from plyboard, un-spliced power cord, switch, and power supply wires; Used a personal cell phone stand as a holder for the power supply; Used Dremel tool to saw and cut beams & boards out of cell phone stand to fit power supply into cleared out cell phone stand box; fastened oil igniter power supply to cell Phone stand box; fitted switch into back of cell phone stand horizontally. Plugged power cord in and tested device. Observed successful Ionization of air/plasma between copper wires.
Prototype v.4 Worked with machine shop for final adjustments to Jacob's ladder for NREC demonstrations
From an oil igniter, power cord , cell phone stand and Plexi-glass, worked with machine shop staff cell phone stand to protect users from ionized air/plasma generated from the 6000v 100mA power supply; staff assisted with drilling holes for fastening screws and added top for extra safety to cut spacings for cell phone holder and cutting spacings to allow for the wood box to flex allowing plexiglass to fit securely into cell phone stand box.
project #3 - power supply
Side note: That summer I met a person wearing a Monks clothing outside the NREC and he offered me a copy of the Bhagavad Gita mentioning the book was given as a gift yet that I could choose to give him something in return. I checked my wallet pulled out all the money I had and gave it to him, and I think he left with a dollar.

Bought a Savannah Monitor in 2018;(AKA- Achilles) to deal with depression stemming from stress while waiting for IBM paperwork to Finalize. (May have been worried about being stranded in Albany, NY.; Maybe read a book about raising Savanah Monitors).
Domesticated Achilles; Trained Achilles to eat pieces of meat or insects from the palm of my hand. Could hold meat between my fingers and feed the lizard and it would gently grab the meat while being aware of my fingers making sure not to hurt me. Some mice may have been injured when Achilles was hungry. Fed super worms and 99% lean turkey; reptile multivitamin powder, and raw eggs with eggshells crushed into meat.
Showered with Achilles clinging to my head and shoulders or laying on my thigh and lap and (she?) never bit me while in the shower.
Achilles Liked to lay on the Subwoofer while listening to Music that rumbled the walls.

Running away to Alabama; running from the choppers; a picnic near a neighborhood; listening to Christian radio; vacating the premises; route 99; finding the watershed; lost in the feedlot; stranded; a tow offer abandoned; hoofprints at the watershed; following the path; Finding a shelter; building a staff; digging out a car; Surviving the thunderstorm.
Spent 1-2 days camping out on unsigned private property (wasn't sure if property was public or private) listening to Christian radio. Picked up supplies at a local gas station. Property owner and local law enforcement were courteous in requesting that I vacate the property; whereby I proceeded to hide the car in the brush ;backing into a grove of trees; and covering the front of the car with a tarp; I waited out there for a while organizing my supplies and taking a nap; while listening to ping-ping of batting practice at nearby baseball field and the search helicopters flying above me; I then made my way to a water shed camp for a week or two; while driving to the water shed, I took a wrong turn into a feeding lot and got my car strand on a sandbank just off the sand road; (maybe could have been a hunting ground or feeder lot).
After a nap, met a nice gentleman who offered to call someone to help get the car pulled out of the sand bank. I was kind of dick and maybe not as nice as I should have been, didn't say much to the nice gentleman; but was on a mission to get away from society and camp out until my birthday January 15; I was trying to get away from society and the pressures that were mounting; and paranoia caused from the city; could have been bi-polar manic episode induced paranoia ; Just trying to get away and think about things for a couple weeks;
I followed a path down to the reservoir and noticed the hoofprints in the sand; was still too close to the main path; followed a path of yellow paint trail markers deeper into the woods after crossing a couple streams; set-up camp/shelter between a large fallen tree 3-4 feet in diameter and a hill; 25-30 yards from the mark path. I had my sleeping bag; a fm/am radio; A Leatherman wingman knife, Brawler Flip assisted knife; (my seal pup and plastic sheath fell out of my pocket while walking in the woods/ jumping across multiple 4-5 foot streams; I retraced my steps to find the pup but couldn't locate it spent a 1/2 a day to a day trying to find it); A water filter, a pair of Cutco scissors; and mini-crowbar; 2 stainless folding pans; a legal bag ; a pencil; a write-in-rain note book with my contacts in it some bread/ Potatoe chips and a bag of pancake mix; a water filter bag; water filter; and a gallon of water; I set up my sleeping bag on the side of a hill near the shelter and found a small tree
The next day I walked back out to the car and grabbed some supplies and left the suitcases and maybe a tarp; outside the car; Inside the car the first or second night at the camp there was a thunderstorm and freezing rain, I spent the night awake shivering and teeth chattering, while using a solar blanket and a sleeping bag to keep from freezing in the rain.
I thought about how the shivering and convulsions kept me warm during the rain, but mostly I thought about the cold and the cold and the cold and the cold that could block any thoughts at all; all I could think about was staying warm and struggled to squeeze any amount of warmth out of the solar blanket and let the warmth soak up into my freezing and shivering body in the freezing rain; I thought about surviving the storm and freezing rain and that I might freeze to death If I couldn't get shelter from the rain; time seemed to slow and the minutes seemed like hours waiting for the sun to rise and to feel the warmth of the light.
I couldn't sleep the entire night the cold and a shivering and noise of chattering teeth keeping me awake, while the solar blanket inside my sleeping bag kept just enough warmth to keep me from freezing in (20-30 mph winds? need to verify the winds were strong). During the night I felt something crawl into my pantleg; I didn't pay much attention to it; I looked at the thermometer and read 35 degrees as I lay soaking and freezing while the rain water steamed down the side of the hill into my back as the lightning cracked, the rain fell, and the thunder rumbled the ground around me; when the sun rose in the morning the light of sun warmed the wet blanket and signaled the end of the shivering and chattering and cold of the evening. I laid the sleeping bag and removed my clothes in the 40 degree weather taking off my clothing one piece at a time and lying them in the sun to dry; I hung up some fishing line between some trees and hung up one pair of the two or three pairs of pants I was wearing to dry (I removed the second pair and third pair and found what had crawled into my pants legs during the thunderstorm was a small lizard that probably crawled into my pantleg to keep warm; It was still warm but had been crushed in the night under the weight of my body; while I was trying to stay warm). I stood in the sun (I changed into a dry pair of boxers) and (maybe put on a shirt and shorts I had stored in a drybag); As my clothes dried. I began to build the shelter from saw palmetto palms stacking them like shingles and picking up shingles of bark to make a shelter roof; I collected branches from the surrounding area and stacked them at the side of the shelter to make a wall and collected saw palmetto palm overlapping them while stacking them like shingles against the branch wall.
After a week and a half of listening to the radio; scouting the area and foraging for berries, grapes, and nuts I called my brother.
