CHROME ICON BUILD
Figma Tutorial
Figma Tutorial
Early in 2022 Google announced the refresh of Chrome’s brand icons for the first time in 8 years with a simplified main brand icon, shadows were removed and a little more saturation added. They wanted to give it a refreshed and modern look to reflect how Chrome has evolved as a product.
While I enjoy shading and shadow as part of my particular icon and illustration artwork style I do also like the clean look of shadeless icons and logos.
I expect that the Chrome team used Adobe Illustrator in this work and I was inspired to figure out how to recreate the icon using Figma, my favourite vector tool.
I put together this 5 minute video tutorial with captions for accessibility, sharing the steps on my technique for creating the Chrome icon in Figma.
