Hi, I'm John du Bois. I make games. Some of them are okay.

My mission is to design games nobody else can make.

There are literally thousands of board games designed each year. When approaching game design, I was faced with two choices: I could either design games to compete with the games other designers were likely to make, or I could design games nobody else could make because of their personal connection to me. I choose the latter. Mostly.

500 Miles

A two-player flicking game where you try to walk 500 miles without also walking 500 more.

Avignon (series)

A two-player game where you try to gain enough influence in the Catholic Church to become Pope.

A man holding bread and the title "Bread and Circuses"

Bread and Circuses

A three-player game where you try to exploit commoners for profit before they riot.

Heading Forward

A one-player game where you work to improve your skills following a traumatic brain injury.

Striking Flint

A 1-5 player game where you occupy factories and hold them long enough for your employer to concede labor rights.

Tricky Arena

A 3-6 player trick-taking game where you defeat monsters and claim tricks to meet unique scoring conditions.
