John Thruston was baptized June 8, 1606, at St. John's Parish Church in Wellington, Somerset County, England. His father was Malachias Thruston (~1564) and his mother was Justian Fursland (~1567).
John Thruston documented his own birth and identified his father in the Thruston Family Register:
In "The Visitations of Somerset and the City of Bristol 1672", Justian Fursland was identified as the wife of Malachias Thruston (John's father), and the mother of Edward Thruston (John's brother).
The Church of St. John the Baptist in Wellington, Somerset, England, has a history dating back to the 15th century.

John Thruston likely spent much of his youth at Ruggin Court which was "the old Thruston Homestead" owned by his father Malachias Thruston.
In 1896 R. C. Ballard Thruston visited Ruggin Court and reported that the Thruston homestead was still standing and took photos which were later published in the book "A sketch of the ancestry of the Thruston-Phillips Families". R. C. Ballard Thruston returned to Ruggin Court again in 1923 and took additional photos.
See Ruggin Court for more details, including more photographs and a link to a modern Google Maps Street View image of the house.
John Thruston (1606) likely attended church with his family at Church of St. Mary the Virgin in West Buckland, where his mother was buried in 1651.
See Church of St. Mary the Virgin for additional details about this church and its significance to the Thruston family.
John Thruston likely moved to Bristol before his 15th birthday and lived there for the rest of his life.
