John Linley Prather

August 30, 1992 - April 10, 2020

This website is intended to be a brief record of the life of our son John. I hope to add pictures, images of his artwork, stories about him from anyone who knew him, and some of his own writings. It will always be a work in progress.

If you knew John, I'd be delighted to publish stories about him from friends and family: prathert1954@icloud.com

The picture above was made in 2017, just before John returned from Spain.

The picture at left was taken while John was in college at University of Oregon. He was visiting a friend from high school named Haley who had moved to Washington state.

Unless found in someone else's writing or quotes, the authorial "I" is John's father.

"Last known photograph": John sitting with his sister Anna in the Austin living room of the Prather house on Woodview around end of March 2020. Picture by Dani Glover.

John's "booty cache" (note to people born after 1970, this is in sense of "pirate booty") found in one of those organizer boxes. Most probably have a story behind them that I don't know and never will. For example, the dog tag belonged to his cousin David, who died at age 40. He also had testicular cancer when he was 20.

Some pictures of John and his fellow Scouts in various locales. Provided by Joel Pearson.

A flower image mad with dried flower petals sent from Spain to Leslie; a gift from John to her made in a middle school woodworking class.

Left: Heart cut out of iron about 1/4 inch thick. Right: John went through a Pokemon phase. He saved all his cards and considered selling them but never did.
