John's Artwork

An early effort at artististic self-expression

After returning from Spain, John began creating collages (static and animated) and metal sculpture. Below are links to two sites where he posted images of some of his work, along with everyday photography:

While going through his living space in Austin, we found other art works that may not be posted above, and will be adding those in the future.

This is a metal/bone construct that John brought down to me the weekend before he died. He didn't give it a name. I suppose most people would find it creepy. Most of his "creations" involved welded metal and bones. His mom added the chain at the bottom, not sure why except it was laying around here.

John made a number of stop-motion films with his iPhone. When he texted this one, I replied "I hope you did this on the carport." It looks much more imppressive at his Instagram page:

John collected bits of broken glass from Spanish beaches

and added bits of twisted wire to them, making these, probably for some future project.

John also liked to design T-shirts, a number of which can be seen on the Picuki and Instagram pages noted above.

This is one he was working on when he died. Leslie finished it. Another was simply a large red heart on a T-shirt.

The Little Man (made of plant materials and clay)

This was one of his designs for a postcard. He also displayed a selection of his art at an exhibit at Pacha Cafe. I think I will end this part of the Artwork page with this illustration. It certainly says how Leslie and I feel about our lost boy.
