This article goes over two men who previously worked for cyber security firms try and extort multiple US firms for millions of dollars. They used a ransomware that was used in 2023 by cybercriminal gangs. They requested 10 million dollars and recieved 1.27 million. The ransomware was previously used on healthcares and cutoff health providers from millions of dollars. The ones were affected were a Florida based medical device maker which was used to unlock the firms data which is how they got the 1.27 million. Now, how could we protect ourselves from this? Strong authentication and keeping software updated.

Attackers manipulated microsoft teams and edited messages and impersonated colleagues. This would trick people into clicking malicious messages. This allowed hackers to forge their identities. This was known as internet fraud. This affected teams users. This could be prevented by carefully clicking what you post.
