Relation to Main Project SMART Goals
Relation to Main Project SMART Goals
The SMART Goals for the main project being done by the Grade 3 students are as shown here.
The specific learning objectives for the K3 class are as stated on the objectives page.
They will be measurable by the activities for assessment outline on the activities page.
As with the Grade 3 project, the sequence of activities here build on each other, with scaffolding and support provided by the teacher where necessary, helping make the obejectives achieveable.
The concept of waste and waste management, as well as of properties of materials, are relevant to the students and will be even more so as they grow older. Social skills, language skills, 21st century skills and higher thinking development will support success in the next stages of their education and beyond. In this project, the students will also have the opportunity to develop something unique and interesting to them.
As with the Grade 3 project, our project will be split into stages helping make it time-bound. Due to the younger age, the stages are simplified slightly.
(1) Introducing and discussing the concept of waste, then keeping a log to monitor how they are saving waste. (Up to 2 weeks.)
(2) Researching to find out more about the waste school-wide. (1 week.)
(3) Use developing knowledge of materials and the waste at school to make a product. (2 weeks.)
(4) Develop a school-wide exhibit to showcase their creation. (2 weeks.)
