Washington State University Center for Digital Scholarship and Curation - Technical Assistant II

Responsible for liasing between eight tribal nations and three institutional repositories to digitally repatriate cultural materials and records to tribal nations using the Mukurtu CMS as part of the CLIR "Digitizing Hidden Collections" grant. Prepare spreadsheets and corresponding digital assets for upload through metadata crosswalking. Batch upload materials to the Native Northwest Portal.

Started and ran business selling Hawaii inspired lifestyle products. Developed, created, marketed and sold numerous products, built website, handled shipping, photography, customer service, social media. Participated in pop-up markets and built displays. Learned how to make repeating patterns, sold patterns as fabric and other items, designed patterns for clients.

August 2017 - June 2020

Washington State University Housing - Apartment Coordinator

Managed an apartment complex of approximately 200 units that housed graduate students, faculty, staff and their families. Designed and released monthly newsletters, planned monthly activities, resolved disputes, communicated with complex via email, built relationships with residents and connected them with information and resources as needed.

Adams Psychological Assessment and Consulting, Inc. - Assistant

Assisted in the process of writing psychological reports. Communicated with clients to ensure that psychological testing materials were received in a timely manner. Translated histories written by clients into language appropriate for a professional report, gathered and scored paper versions of various psychological tests. Inputed results from testing into report. Transcribed and inputted voice notes from psychologist into report. Edited reports for formatting and grammatical errors. Organized numerous files and clients simultaneously. Remained HIPPA compliant. Worked independently.

September 2009 - June 2010

University of Hawaii at Hilo, Sociology Department - Research Assistant

Assisted Professor Marilyn Brown with research on the development of Western prison systems in Hawaii as described by Hawaiian language newspapers, by performing keyword searches for specific Hawaiian words for prison in digitized Hawaiian newspapers and compiling the results of these searches and their English translation into a FileMaker database.

July 2009 - August 2010

Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii - Research Assistant

Worked with Helen Wong-Smith of the  Mookini Library compiling dozens of maps and pictures of Hilo  and Mauna Kea from the Hawaii State Archives, Bishop Museum, UH Mānoa, The Lyman House Museum and the Internet for the Kipuka-Native Hawaiian Success Center Hilo Video Projects production. Also compared legends of Maui and Hina throughout Oceania for this same production.

University of Hawaii at Hilo History Department - Research Assistant

Assisted Professor Kerri Inglis with developing a syllabus for a course focusing on Public History in Hawaii to be taught at the University, by gathering and reading through dozens of articles, books and other appropriate material.

Brigham Young University-Hawaii Library: Research Assistant

Organized and maintained the library’s collection of books, newspapers, periodicals and maps dealing specifically with the Pacific region, maintained a working knowledge of the Pacific community and current issues, assisted students in research based mainly on Hawaii and Oceania, answered questions regarding history and culture in Polynesia, operated microfilm and microfiche machines, scanners, computers and printers, and contributed to an online database of obituaries in Hawaii, drawing from current Hawaii newspapers.
