A Report on the English Skills Training Programme (21-30 Jun 2010) & the Personality Development Training Programme (27 Jun 2010) (in Summer) held in the Vivekananda Seva Samiti, Karimnagar
A 10-day English Skills Training Programme (in Summer) 21-30 Jun 2010 was held during 21-30 Jul 2010. 20 participants utilized the programme. To serve the truely needy people, it aimed at benefiting the students whose families belong to the poor and middle-class sections of the society. The participants included B.Tech., M.Tech., M.C.A., M.Sc., B.A., B.Com., B.Sc. students as well as graduages, PGs and job seekers. The participants were irregular and complained that the the Samiti building is remotely located. Some discontinued owing to M.Tech. exams. Despite irregularities of attendance, with those whoever came, the programme was run as announced for 10 days uninterruptedly, successfully. English faculty Sri. Rajeswara Shastri and Shri. Parashurama Rao of SRR Degree and PG College as well as Prof.Chandra Sekharaiah K., Head of Department, Dept. of Information Technology, JNTUH College of Engg., Kondagattu handled the training classes to the participants. He laid emphasis on how one could build a better vocabulary through etymology.
A Personality DevelopmentTraining Programme was held on 27 Jun 2010 (10.00 A.M. - 2.00 P.M.). This also targeted to benefit the students/people who belonged to the families from the poor and the middle-class sections of the society. 10 people participated in this programme. "Vivekananda - His call to the Nation" books were distributed as free copies sponsored by the Samiti to the participants. The topics covered for the Personality Development Training Programme included "Achievement Motivation", "Level of Aspiration", "Emotional Competence" and "How to Overcome Depression? ". Further, a video show of the R.K. Math- published DVD on "Personality Development" (in Telugu) was played for the participants. The lectures on the topics were delivered in mixed English-Telugu mode on the request of the participants. Prof. Chandra Sekharaiah, JNTUH College of Engineering delivered the talks and handled the interactions for the benefit of the participants. The participants were zealous about the skills development which the VSS has targeted and nurtured sanguine expectations that the Samiti undertake at least Sunday-training programmes for English Skills development in continuation to the 10-day programme. It was concluded that the Sunday training calsses will be held during 4.30-6.30 P.M.
