A little about me

I love telling stories. I study history because I think the stories of our past shape our future. I study communication because the way humanity communicates is so unique and gives meaning to life. I study nerd culture because those stories are modern mythology and share values to their audiences that help to shape who we are as a society.

After college, I look forward to writing my first fiction novel and pursuing other creative writing opportunities. All while looking for work in my chosen field.

EXPERIENCE

George Mason University, Fairfax, VA - Undergraduate Research Intern

Sept 2021 - June 2022

I was a part of a research project led by Dr. Jessica Mack on a project involving researching the history of George Mason University and Old Dominion University’s campuses and how they shaped their respective neighboring cities. While interning I learned about the process of digital cataloging and how to research properly in an archive. In addition, I have published two scholarly essays on the project's website. A few of my takeaways from this project were the importance of time management and attention to detail.

Butcher Block, Corolla, NC — Sales Associate

May 2019 - August 2019, April 2020 - November 2020, May 2021 - August 2021

Over my many years working at Butcher Block I gained experience that can be applied to many jobs outside of a meat and seafood market. I learned the value of great customer service and how, when done properly, it helps cultivate a relationship that will keep them returning. I learned the value of working efficiently to create a product that respects people’s time and money.

Fleet Reserve Association, Alexandria, VA - Unpaid/Paid Intern

June 2016/2017 - July 2016/2017

I interned twice at the FRA. The first summer was unpaid, and the second was paid. I was tasked with assisting the then National Executive Director, Tom Snee. He was working on passing legislation to assist Vietnam Veterans with the lingering effects due to contact with Agent Orange in the Vietnam War. I also did administrative work checking the database for legislation and members to assist other members at the headquarters.
