2023: Australian Senate Enquiry into Australia’s Extinction Crisis - worked with Invertebrates Australia team to submit a response to the Australian Senate Standing Committees on Environment and Communications, highlighting the challenges and providing recommendations for invertebrate conservation in Australia.
2020-2022: Impact of megafires on priority land snail species in south-eastern Australia & Invertebrate conservation in the North East Forests of New South Wales Projects - worked with the Australian Museum, La Trobe University, Museums Victoria and University of New South Wales to systematically survey and assess the impacts of 2019-2020 bushfires on land snails in New South Wales and Victoria, Australia. Submitted final reports to the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment Australia and three threatened species nominations to the NSW Threatened Species Scientific Committee. Reviewed proposed listing of threatened species under the EPBC Act.
2018-2019: Conservation of Limestone Ecsosystem in Malaysia Project - worked with Universiti Malaysia Sabah on the national limestone karst ecosystem mapping and conservation prioritisation for Malaysia. Prepared a technical report to the government to inform Malaysia's conservation plan for limestone karst ecosystems.
2017-2018: Engagement on karst biodiversity management and developing a biodiversity management plan for a quarry site - Collaborated with an international conservation NGO and a cement company to develop biodiversity management plan recommendations for a limestone quarry.
2016-2017: The composition and diversity of terrestrial molluscs on Gunung Kanthan and karsts in its immediate vicinity, with a specific evaluation of taxa endemism on Gunung Kanthan, Perak, Peninsular Malaysia Project - Identified the diversity and biogeography of land snail species in Perak; Prepared a technical report to inform conservation plans at a quarry site and published a peer-reviewed journal article (Foon et al., 2016) for dissemination.
2015-2016: Project Harimau Selamanya - worked with Rimba to: 1) monitor population trends of tigers and other large carnivores; 2) improve wildlife legislation; 3) increase patrols to reduce poaching in and around the Greater Taman Negara Landscape. Contributed to the successful lobbying and gazettement of the Lawit-Cenana and Kenyir State Parks in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
2015: Contributed to the rejection of a DEIA of a limestone karst in Kelantan (Chiku 7) for a proposed cement plant.
