JUNN KITT FOON

About Me

I am a biologist with nine years of biodiversity research and applied conservation experience in the Asia-Pacific. My research focus is on land snail taxonomy, biogeography and ecology, as well as habitat conservation planning. I have been involved in a variety of projects utilising latest technologies including drones for mapping threatened ecosystems across a country, camera traps and geospatial software to monitor endangered mammals and poachers, and digital databases and coding for collection management and data analysis.

My experiences of developing conservation management plans and implementing project actions in the field with local and indigenous peoples, civil society organisations, research institutes, government agencies and various partners have shaped my professional interest for evidence-based biodiversity conservation.

I am now on a PhD journey in Australia to deepen my experience in scientific research and translating research findings into tangible conservation and management actions through collaborations with scientists and natural resource managers.

When I am not working, you will likely find me exploring the outdoors and sharing my enthusiasm for nature with everyone!
