Brief History of Jagarlamudi Kuppuswamy Choudary College Library

Just as a man can not live without a heart, so also an academic institution can not thrive or flourish without a good library of its own. This is a well known fact. Having realized this fact, the enlightened management J.K.C.College started the library in the year 1968, later the library was renamed as Yalavarthi Rosayya Library and Reading Room as a mark of respect to the former Principal Sri.Y. Rosayya.

Jagarlamudi Kuppuswamy Choudary College has an excellent library for the benefit of students, faculties and researchers. As one of the best established libraries according to national standards, the College Library has a large collection of books covering various branches of Science ,Commerce and Humanities and its related fields. The library is nearly five decades old. The library is well protected with fire alarms. The college subscribes to a wide range of Books, Journals and Periodicals in all the areas of Science ,Commerce and Humanities.

  • To serve the changing needs and requirements of staff and students towards reading, study and research.

Objectives:

  • To acquire ,organize and update the library collection to support teaching-learning process.

  • To encourage students to read beyond the requirements of the curriculum.

  • To provide instruction and assistance in the effective use of learning resources/services

  • To work with faculty in integrating information skills ,knowledge of information sources, and the use of technology in accessing information needed to strengthen their instruction, research and extension programmes .

Library Building:

At the present the library is housed in a three floors building situated in the southern part of the western wing. Now we use two floors for library services.

  • The general library with an issue/return counter, E-learning Center, Institutional Digital Repository, Reprographic facility and OPAC is housed in the ground floor. The Book bank and reference section occupies the mezzanine.

  • The second floor consists of Back volumes periodical section, Journals section, Net resource center, Competitive examination section ,Question paper cell and Reading room with a color television set, having a capacity to accommodate about 200 people.
