This project gained a Distinction grade.
My first documentary I created for my youtube channel. My channel focuses around trains & transportation. I created Higham Ghost Train (HGT) as I found exclusive information about a select rail service that not had been previously reported. I thought it would work really well in the enthusiast community and I decided to create the video with my on research and on the ground filming. The entire video was only 6 minutes but It covered literally everything that had to be told. It gained quick traction within the community and a lot of engagement. This was certainly my first documentary style video, But not my first voiceover video. This video used a lot more animation than ever before and certainly helped my progression in editorial skills.
My second large scale documentary, This time liaising with the local train company (Southeastern) to get filming permits & pre-release information, I created this documentary for the content of my youtube channel. It was a high turnaround project releasing in the early hours of the day after it opened. I was the first high quality video about the stations release & I pre-recorded most of the voiceover (pre-set facts), All I had to do was put in the video I recorded at the station and then voice some information that I did not see/know prior to my visit. I was able to get the first wave of views quickly as I was the first & arguably most informative video. This video required advance warning and communication to network rail as I wanted to fly a camera-fitted drone above the station. Which was approved.
HS1 is a documentary I made privately when creating a Larger portfolio in 2023. It had me contacting multiple TOC's and for the first time, Requiring a public liability insurance to film. I was able to film at Notable locations like London St Pancras International and even fly my drone alongside International railways. The pre-production process for this was lengthy as it also included interviews. This had to be pre-arranged with southeastern & I had to talk to their media team. The documentary is quite a short from what I would have originally liked, But this came down to limitations from what southeastern let me do. It was very broad but didnt include everything that I imagined. The video went by the title. "HS1: 15 Years on.. what changed?" In 2025 I decided to make this project public on my youtube channel.
