On Saturday, May 11, 2019 the Men of Purpose held their first Annual Pre-Mother's Day Celebration at Tiffany's on the Boulevard. It was wonderful! The celebration began with Evangelist Faggins (E.F.) of Agape Tabernacle who is the facilitator for the men's group, giving opening remarks. He also introduced the rest of the Men of Purpose:
Pastor James Churn, Agape Tabernacle
Deacon Anthony (Tony) Marrow, Jesus Is The Way
Brother Stanley Brown, Jesus Is The Way
Pastor Churn was the Mister of Ceremony. Pastor Churn prayed and Bro. Brown read portions of Proverbs 31:10-30. Pastor Churn challenge those who were in attendance to write a sentence about what makes a good mother. The winner was a fifteen year old girl who wrote a phenomenal piece about her mother, who was there. An original poem by Sister Christine King was read in honor of the mothers (see below pictures). Deacon Tony read a story he wrote in honor of mothers that was very inspirational.
I must say the food was fantastic! This was the first time at Tiffany's for many of the people who attended. There was a choice of entree: prime rib, or fried flounder, or roasted half chicken, or salmon. Every entree was delicious, even the sheet-cake served for dessert!
The Men of Purpose gave every mother a rose. Twice they gave a toast honoring mothers, using sparkling cider that was superb! They even gave those who were present an opportunity for remarks. This allowed the men who were not part of the Men of Purpose an opportunity to share from their heart. Kudos to the Men of Purpose!
