This entertainment-focused design project revolves around creating a publicly accessible interactive fairy tale book tailored for kids. Leveraging interactive storytelling, the book showcases entirely AI-generated visuals. Featuring a branching storyline, users can navigate diverse paths leading to distinct book endings. Children often struggle to stay engaged when reading, resulting in lower chances of revisiting books. However, there exists an opportunity to boost engagement by crafting immersive and interactive reading experiences. Elevating book immersion can effectively enhance reading habits and stimulate a deeper interest in books, ultimately heightening parental satisfaction with their children's reading journeys.

Several key points define the design process of this unique children's reading experience. Firstly, to pinpoint the needs of the target audience, a two-week diary and camera study were conducted with four children and their parents. This in-depth research revealed children's reading habits, preferred content, and dislikes, allowing us to compare and analyze these insights with parental perspectives. Based on these findings, the book's core characters and storyline were built. Secondly, this project stands out for its innovative use of generative AI tools. Leveraging user study data, the generative AI tools produced all the book's content, including diverse interactive elements that go beyond visual effects. Interactive characters and a branching story created by AI, based on children's choices, provide multiple engaging endings.
