My appreciation for nature began from during my childhood in Salem, Oregon. My parents' love for plants and her dad's landscaping business. Learning at a young age about gardening, planting and taking care of the environment I enjoyed the connection to our food, our environment and animals. I decided to major in Environmental studies with a minor in Food studies to continue my passion for human relationship to the environment and our food. Through my work at the Museum of Natural and Cultural History, my experience with Oregon history and communities continues to grow. I decided to join Aves Compartidas due to my experience of learning English at school to contribute to similar students' experiences. Along with showing support for students facing similar challenges. Through Aves Compartidas program I am able to share my love for nature to students forming a positive empowering space for students to learn and grow.Â
