COUNSELING STAFF
The Jefferson Counseling Department will empower all students to reach their maximum potential by participating in a four year comprehensive program that addresses academic, personal/social, and career goals. Counselors will promote an environment to encourage personal growth, self advocacy and social responsibility. We believe that every Jefferson student can succeed through the collaborative efforts of school, home, and community support.
Through participation in the Jefferson High School counseling program, all students are collaborative lifelong learners, self-directed stewards in their community, and confident in their abilities to pursue college and career opportunities while fostering healthy coping skills to sustain resilience.

Regina Biagini has been a school counselor at Jefferson High School since 2011. She spent the previous thirteen years years working as a school counselor at Terra Nova High School. Ms. Biagini received her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a certificate in Ethic Studies from the University of San Francisco. She possesses a Master of Arts degree in Counseling with a concentration in Educational Counseling also from the University of San Francisco. Ms. Biagini is proud to be a native of Daly City and is honored to be working in the community where she grew up.

Jasmine Genove-Ly has been at Jefferson since 2015. She is also a proud graduate of Jefferson High School! Her first two years at Jefferson, Ms. Genove was the Wellness Counselor and then moved into School Counseling. Ms. Genove graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor's in Child and Adolescent Development. She worked as a preschool teacher for 3 years before deciding to go to graduate school. Ms. Genove earned her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from University of San Francisco. Ms. Genove is proud to be a JHS Alum and work in the same community she grew up in. In her free time, Ms. Genove loves to practice yoga, run, cook, and travel the world in the summer!

Shannon Paras is a graduate of the Jefferson Union High School District. She has experience in academic personal and college counseling and has been working in education since 1994. She came to Jefferson High School in Spring 2004. Mrs. Paras has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology.

José Villalobos graduated of the class of 2000 from Oceana High School. Mr. Villalobos was born in Daly City and lived in Mexico as a teenager for 5 years. Mr. Villalobos graduated from San Francisco State with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and recently finished his Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco. Although he has recently become a counselor, Mr. Villalobos has worked education since 2008 (with a few brief stints going back to school and working in Immigration law). He started at Jefferson High School as a Parent Liaison in 2008 and as a part-time counselor in 2019.
Vince Adraneda grew up in San Francisco, where he graduated from George Washington High School. He transferred from Skyline College to CSU Long Beach as a Criminal Justice major. With his bachelors degree, Mr. Adraneda returned to San Francisco to work at Edgewood Center for Children and Families, providing behavioral health services for youth for ten years. He later earned his Masters of Social Work from CSU East Bay, interning here at Jefferson High School and with the SFUSD Pupil Services Department. On his free time, Mr. Adraneda enjoys traveling - learning about different cultures and ways of life are both interesting and enlightening to him. He one day hopes to see the world!
Erika Hapa (she/her/hers) grew up in the San Francisco - Daly City area and is a proud graduate of Jefferson Union High School District. She went on to attain her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development at UC Davis and has spent most of her professional life thus far in social services and educational nonprofit settings. Ms. Hapa earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from University of San Francisco after completing traineeships at local schools and the Daly City Youth Health Center. In her spare time, she enjoys being in nature and spending time with friends and family. She is excited and honored to be a part of the Jefferson community!
Hello Grizzly community! My name is Carla Alvarado-Aguilar (pronouns: she/ella), and I’m thrilled to join the team as your new Bilingual (Spanish/English) Social Worker and Wellness Counselor II. I’m excited to connect with you and be a part of such a vibrant and supportive school community!
A little about me: I was raised in San Bruno and graduated from Capuchino High School. My personal experiences and interactions with social systems in San Mateo County inspired me to pursue a career in social work. I earned both my Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Master of Social Work from California State University, Long Beach—Go Beach!
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with foster youth, individuals experiencing housing instability, the Latinx community, and supporting adolescents, families, and marginalized populations in various community-based settings.
I’m passionate about empowering students and families, promoting wellness, and advocating for equity and access. I look forward to working alongside you and building a strong, supportive, and empowered Grizzly community!
Rosemary Alcala has worked for JUHSD since 2009. Students and staff know her as “Ms. Rosie." She has been the backbone of the Counseling Department as she assists students and counselors, making sure everything runs smoothly. Ms. Rosie is also fluent in Spanish and loves working at Jefferson! Ms. Rosie loves spending time with her family and listening to music. Her hobbies include baking and trying out new recipes!
Shane Nichols has been Jefferson's College & Career Office Assistant since 2023. He took a non-traditional route to obtain his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 2024, so is eager to help students pursue their various educational and career goals. In his down time, he likes hitting the gym, gardening, and spending time with his three eccentric cats.
