During my time as both a classroom teacher and an administrator, I have had the privilege of developing, implementing, and revising curriculum across grades K-12. This experience gave me a comprehensive understanding of curriculum design, not only from the perspective of what happens in the classroom, but also how curriculum articulates vertically across grade levels to ensure consistency, progression, and alignment to standards.
My time as IT Director provided me with an added advantage, allowing me to see how curriculum decisions directly impact scheduling, grade scales, grading practices, and digital gradebooks. It became clear to me that curriculum development is much like solving a complex puzzle—there is no single correct path, but there are countless ways for missteps to disrupt the system if decisions aren’t made collaboratively and strategically.
Most importantly, I recognize that curriculum design is never a solitary task. I had the honor of working alongside dedicated educators, whose expertise and collaborative spirit helped shape a meaningful, well-rounded curriculum that reflects the values and needs of our school community. Together, we built a **lasting product that not only supports student learning, but also serves as a guide for teachers, families, and stakeholders for years to come.
