Volunteerism

Building a School Library in Kenya

Returning to Kenya offered a gratifying blend of my fundraising endeavors with active construction efforts in the Maasai Mara. Successfully raising $5,000 for a charitable cause, I was able to significantly contribute to enhancing the educational facilities for local children. Collaborating closely with the Maasai community, we built a vital school library, enriching access to literature and learning. This venture was not just about constructing a building; it was a profound exercise in cultural exchange and mutual understanding. It underscored the impactful role grassroots initiatives play in empowering communities and elevating education as a pathway to a more promising future. My efforts in this project were later recognized with the Violet Richardson Humanitarianism Award, an honor that deeply humbled me.

Habitat for Humanity

Participating in subsidized housing construction projects with Habitat for Humanity was a profound learning experience that underscored the importance of teamwork and community service. Through this work, I gained practical construction skills and saw directly how affordable housing can significantly improve the lives of those in need. This experience solidified my conviction in the value of giving back and creating positive change through direct, hands-on involvement.

Dance

As the Event Coordinator for Only Human Dance Collective (OHDC) at the University of Toronto, my responsibilities encompassed the entire spectrum of event management, from conceptualizing and planning to budgeting, marketing, and executing various social and informative events throughout the season. A highlight of my tenure was organizing a successful competition that raised both awareness and funds. However, the onset of the pandemic prematurely ended my first year.

Undeterred by this challenge, I continued with the executive team the following year, navigating our transition to a virtual setting. This shift not only honed my skills in online event planning but also in adapting to virtual technologies, significantly enhancing my adaptability and resilience in facing unforeseen circumstances.

- Prospecting, lead generation, and sales conversion, demonstrated as the top district sales representative at Vector Marketing.
- Handling objections and solving problems dynamically.

In retail marketing, merchandising, and visual presentation, I have proven expertise:

- Won the IMC category at the Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition (OCMC) 2023, and was a finalist in Sales in 2023 and Retail Marketing in 2022.
- Developed skills in inventory management and supply chain optimization for product availability during my time with Latitude Sales.
