From freshman year, Jessica Ton has participated in campus beautification events. The club was able to collect litter and trash around the campus to create a friendlier environment.
In October of 2021 and 2022, Jessica Ton and her club hosted an event to engage club members. The club observed Mexica free-tailed bat emerge from under the Waugh Bridge!
The Environmental Club has hosted an initiative to ban the use of Styrofoam lunch trays. This ongoing project has made significant progress. The club has researched, created a presentation, and are hosting a meeting to collaborate with HISD executives.
As of May of 2023, Jessica Ton collaborated with her fellow cabinet members to execute an overnight camping trip at Huntsville State Park. Club members participated in activities surrounded by trees, birds, deer, and alligators! The activities include hiking, cooking outdoors, setting up tents, swimming and swimming.
At the start of her sophomore year, Jessica and her fellow cabinet members successfully reestablished a campus-wide recycling program at their school. Over the past two years, they the Environmental Club was able to collect over 170 bags of paper, plastic, and aluminum.
