Prospective Graduate Students  Seeking applicants for Fall 2025!

Now accepting applications!!! The Department of Health and Human Physiology offers both a Master's and Ph.D. programs. Please refer to the department's graduate admissions website for information about the requirements and curriculum. Acceptance of new graduate students into my lab is determined by the academic strength and interests of the student as well as funding availability. Please contact me with any questions you may have, along with a brief (<350 words) statement of interest in research and long-term career goals. It is helpful if you can send a CV/resume with your inquiry to jessica-gorzelitz@uiowa.edu

Undergraduate Students - Not actively seeking applicants

Please send an email to jessica-gorzelitz@uiowa.edu if you are interested and include (1) a statement of interest in research with long term career goals (<250 words) and (2) a resume/CV. Placement is quite competitive and we often have far more applicants than spots each semester. Undergraduates will typically enroll in independent study credits. They will attend a weekly lab meeting plus contribute dedicated time per week to a research project. Lab placement is based on academic strength, interests/career goals, and timing. HHP majors (and pre-majors) are generally prioritized over students from other departments. Priority will also be given to students who are available for multiple semesters.
