Alyssa Noble. Hi, my name is Alyssa Noble. I am from Wapello, IA. I graduated from Wartburg College with a B.A. in psychology and a writing minor. I have worked for the University of Iowa for six years. My research interests revolve around how stress and other emotions affect overall health. My favorite pastime is reading followed closely by golf and card games.
My name is Kaitlyn Steffen, and I am from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I am a second-year undergraduate student at the University of Iowa and am currently majoring in Human Physiology BS on the premed track, with a minor in Psychology. I graduated in Spring 2025. My interests are in the fields of orthopedics and sports medicine. My future goals include attending medical school and becoming a physician. In my free time, I enjoy reading and spending time with my friends, family, and pets.
Graduate students
Caleb Brandner: I was born and raised the Titletown, USA (Green Bay, WI). I completed my undergraduate studies in Exercise and Sport Science at UW La Crosse and received my MS in Kinesiology from the University of Southern Mississippi. I am broadly interested in the role of muscle mass and strength in health, from disease prevention and prognosis to human performance. Beyond academia, I enjoy lifting, cooking, time spent in nature, comics, board games, and any opportunity I get to spend time with friends and family.
Undergraduate students
My name is Reagan Holtorf and I'm from Norwalk, Iowa. I'm currently a second-year undergrad student here at the University of Iowa majoring in Human Physiology BS on the pre-med track. My future goals are to attend medical school to become an orthopedic physician. I am very passionate about physical activity and lifestyle health; I believe it is one of the most crucial aspects of a healthy mind and body. Outside of school I love weightlifting, travelling, being outside, and hanging out with friends.
My name is Ellie Hyten and I am from Edwardsville, Illinois. This is my third year as an undergraduate student at the University of Iowa, and my major is exercise science. I plan to pursue nursing and become a nurse practitioner in the future. I am passionate about my faith, wellness, and helping others in my community. In my free time I enjoy golfing, dancing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
I am Bageshree Joshi, from India. I am a freshman at the University of Iowa, doing my BS in Human Physiology. I am also on the pre-physical therapy track, and a part of the University Honors Program. My goal is to become a Physical therapist and help people live a pain-free, healthy, and happy life. A fun fact about me is that I love Yoga and am a trained Yoga Instructor. In my free time, I love singing and playing the piano!

My name is Briah Drewry, and I am from Johnston, Iowa. I am a third-year undergraduate at the University of Iowa working towards my B.A. in Health Studies on a pre-med track. I hope to attend medical school and become a physician. I am very passionate about health and wellness. In my free time I enjoy weightlifting, running, and hanging out with my friends.
My name is Andrea Babcock and I'm from Des Moines Iowa and I received my B.A. in Health and Exercise Science from Simpson College and have completed my MS in Health and Human Physiology. My research interest is in physical activity and strength training and how it improves quality of life. Something fun about me is I also have a minor in French, and I love traveling when I can and brushing up on my skills. In my free time I enjoy strength training and playing volleyball.
My name is Alexis Hosch and I’m from Oconomowoc, WI. I’m a 5th year PhD student in the clinical psychology program at the University of Iowa. I’m currently completing a summer research rotation in the PACS lab as part of the Behavioral-Biomedical Interface Training Program. My research this summer is focused on the relation between physical activity, including weightlifting and aerobic MVPA, and mortality in individuals with cancer. Outside of the lab, I enjoy Pilates and playing volleyball.
Hi, my name is Rachel Brown, and I am from Nassau, The Bahamas. I am a rising senior at Lincoln University, PA, with a major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I’m currently working here, at the University of Iowa, as a student research intern within the CROI program this summer. My favorite things to do are dancing and listening to music. Additionally, my primary interest is Physical therapy (PT). However, I am interested in how PT can affect/improve the effects of Cancer and its survivorship outcomes.
Hi, my name is Kayla Vital, and I am from Houston, Texas. I am a rising junior at the Illustrious Prairie View A&M University, majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I am also a proud scholar of the Undergraduate Medical Academy, and currently a CROI Research Intern this summer at the University of Iowa. My future goals include attending medical school to become an OB/GYN in hopes of furthering into Gynecologic Oncology. A few of my interests involve traveling, doing hair & makeup, and hanging out with my family and friends.
My name is Sophie Alessio, and I am a third year undergraduate student here at the University of Iowa. I am a pre-med student working towards my ACS certified Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with a minor in human physiology. My interests include women’s health and oncology, as well as physical activity and health. My goal is to become a physician and own my own practice. In my free time I love to exercise, watch sports, and hang out with my dog.
My name is Lauren Cooper and I'm from DeWitt Iowa. I'm a third-year student here at the University of Iowa completing my B.S. in Health Promotion. In the long run I plan to go to Physicans Assistant school. I've very passionate about women's health as well and lifestyle interventions as medicine. Exercise and physical activity are a big part of my life. I enjoy weightlifting, hiking or walking in nature, and reading in my free time .
Simon Dungan-Seaver. Hello! I am from Saint Paul, Minnesota and received by B.A. in Sociology from Grinnell College in 2022. Currently I am completing a Master’s in Public Health with a focus in Epidemiology and the social determinants of health. In my free time I love playing Ultimate Frisbee, painting, and playing board games.
My name is Shannon Wenzel and I'm from Naperville IL and. I am receiving my B.A. in Public Health, while also pursuing my MPH with a focus on Epidemiology. Some of my areas of interest include cancer, aging, and chronic disease epidemiology. In my free time I enjoy hiking, watching movies, and going to concerts with my friends
