My name is Jeremy Graves and I am a senior at Leonardtown High School. This is my second year of engineering at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center. My mother is an Electrical Engineer at Pax River and it only seems natural to pursue a similar path. I have always had strong math skills and enjoy working with all types of electronics.
I have been involved with a few extracurricular activities. About two years ago I started going to a local gym and realized I really enjoyed weight lifting. I spend as much time as I can in the gym. I am always looking for better ways to become stronger. I have recently started challenging myself to do 100 push-ups as fast as I can each day.
For several years I played soccer. At 12 years old, I was playing with people several years older than me. Although I had a lot of fun, I ultimately decided soccer really wasn’t for me.
A few years ago I also took a CPR class though The American Heart Association. I received my Basic Life Support card for CPR. Luckily, I have never had to use it, but I am prepared should the situation ever arise. I feel as though everyone should know this valuable skill just in case you should ever need it.
I would like to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Over the last year I realized I was better at designing things. I have always enjoyed finding unique ways to solve and analyze problems. Last year I got to work with CAD and I that is when I realized that mechanical engineering would suit me better. I have a passion for not only understanding how something works, but also how to design items or make items better.
