Jeremiah 1:1-8
God Knows Us Before We Are Born
1 The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin. 2 The word of the Lord came to him in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, 3 and through the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, down to the fifth month of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile.
4 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
6 “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”
7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
God knows us before we are born...We are created in His Image...So God knew and knows these little humans before we are even born...And God told Jeremiah this before he became a prophet...
And as all of are born and created in His Image, God called Jeremiah to be a Prophet...At a very young age the Word of God came to Jeremiah...Jeremiah thought he was maybe to young to be a prophet...Jeremiah, with the help of God, was not to young to speak the Word of our LORD...God told young Jeremiah that before He formed this young man in his mother's womb He knew him, before you were born God had set Jeremiah apart to be a prophet...So God appointed Jeremiah as a prophet to the nations...
The people of Jerusalem and Judah have sinned and left the LORD for idols and have become wicked...Jeremiah saw his country being destroyed morally from within and then he sees Babylon come in and take his country...As the chosen Prophet of God speaks, Jeremiah focuses on the upcoming Babylon war with Jerusalem and Judah...Throughout Jeremiah's Prophecies he speaks of the exile to Babylon and how God's people have sinned...Jeremiah's grim words speak of warnings throughout his book and the wrath of God being on their immorality and disobedience to their LORD...
