Cats love boxes
When creating this piece the idea was to create something fun and whimsical, bold blocky shapes paired with vibrant colors. I am very proud that it balances and is able to stand on its own, I am also very proud of all of the details.

We started out with little test plaster pieces to learn how to carve into it and how the mold for the plaster affects its shape. The testers made it a lot easier to begin the big project and took loads of stress away.
We started out with little test plaster pieces to learn how to carve into it and how the mold for the plaster affects its shape. The testers made it a lot easier to begin the big project and took loads of stress away.
The assignment was to create a sculpture that is nonobjective and has texture and I did such the best that I could. Starting the process I used a box to form a shape that I wanted instead of carving it from a block, which saved me loads of time and heartache. I lined the box with a plastic bag to make it easier to release from the mold. Once the form was released I began to carve/dremel and create interesting textural flows within the sculpture. Overall this piece is very heavy but intriguing to view in the round.

Terrance Trumpeter is an adorable floppy elephant that I really enjoyed creating. The form is very round and soft. His template consited in a lot of rounded kite like shapes, tubes, and cruvy shapes. The stitches holding him together are reinforce and very strong, yes even his head is firmly attached đŸ˜‚.
