Welcome to my Online Teaching ePortfolio. This site is my final capstone project for the CVC-OEI/ @ONE Advanced Certificate in Online Teaching Principles. I invite you to explore work that demonstrate my growth and development in the 5 @ONE Principles for Quality Online Teaching. On the pages of this site, you will find examples from my online teaching and personal reflections about my journey through the four professional development courses that comprise the program for the CVC-OEI/ @ONE Advanced Certificate in Online Teaching Principles.
I have teaching Economics at Saddleback College since 2007. I did not grow up dreaming that I would be an economist (and I doubt most people do!). I was not even planning on majoring in Economics until I told an introduction economics course as part of the general education requirement. My professor was amazing. The way she related concepts to daily life and told stories that applied the textbook theory to real world left me wanting more. I wanted to go to class. The passion that she had for content was infectous. I changed my major and didn't want to stop learning so I earned my Masters in Economics too. I strive to be like professor that inspired me. Being a great professor goes beyond engaging students in the classroom, it is requires reaching out to struggling students, providing positive feedback to excelling students and being aware that life has many priorities and there are times that coursework has to take a backseat to other obligations.
