In this section of my website, I will go over some of my favorite social media apps and influencers that can help teachers out with professional development. Professional development is the constant training and learning that teachers do to better themselves as teachers. Although, teachers can do that on their own, social media has made it easier for teacher to share their own tips and tricks and here are some of my favorites.
In the recent years, TikTok has risen in popularity and it is used a creative outlet for many people. Not only is it used as a form of entertainment, but it can also be a very valuable tool for teachers. Teachers can share their own teaching techniques, or ideas within a 6 to 3 minute long video. Not only can it be used for teachers to communicate with other teachers, but it can also be a platform that teachers can communicate with their own students.

@HeyAshleyG is also a great account for teachers. Everyday, students are more and more aware of the technology that is around them, so it only makes sense to bring it into the classroom as well. Ashley Guerrero, the owner of the account, gives teachers a lot of helpful tech tips for teachers to use in their classroom.

Twitter has been around for several years, and it has become a very useful tool for teacher professional development. Teachers are able to interact with other teachers real time. They can also find topics that are much more specific through the use of hashtags. Teachers are able to also find links that lead them to useful articles. Twitter allows for teachers to follow groups and organizations that align with their teaching beliefs to better reinforce their teaching beliefs.

@EducatorsRising is a very helpful tool for teachers. They do not tweet a lot ot teaching techniques, but they post a lot of good articles for teachers to read. They focus a lot on race and the importance of a diverse group of teachers. They also keep teachers up to date on webinars and other events that go on that can help with teacher development.

@Heidi_Sons is a twitter account run by Heidi, an EL Lead Educator. This is one if my favorite Twitter accounts because she really goes over the importance of ensuring students do not get left behind. Especially those English Language Learners. She praises and showcases classrooms that do just that, and she shares a lot of wonderful tips that support EL Learners.
@TG2Chat is another very very useful tool. This is one of the more unique twitter pages. This twitter page is very chatty. They focus a lot on one specific theme: grading less in the classroom. Though, I like what they believe in, that is not why I chose this page to showcase. They host a twitter chat every so often. They tweet out an idea and teachers or followers of the page are then encouraged to tweet their thoughts on the idea. They create certain hashtags, and through those tags people are able to comment real time.
Pinterest is a very useful tool for professional development. Pinterest is more of a visual tool, and it can also be a craftier tool. Pinterest is a picture based tool that can benefit those teachers who are more visual than anything else. Pinterest has a variety of classroom set up ideas as well as ideas for lesson plans. Pinterest provides fun worksheets and activities that are easy to print off. Overall, it helps greatly because it provides a plethora of different tools for professional development.

Instagram can help with professional development because of its visual aspect. Teachers can pull ideas off of Instagram pages they like. Also, teachers are able to link their blogs or other resources in their bio, so that allows for more teacher development. Teachers can post small posts that they pull from their website, like a preview almost.

Blogs might be one of my favorite tools for Professional Development. Blogs are one of the most in depth resources teachers could use. Not only are they more personal, but teachers always go above and beyond in their writings. Teachers will often share cool, new teaching strategies, or share their opinions of beliefs through their blog. It allows for professional development because as a teacher, you can keep up with those blogs that align better with what you believe in, and they are constantly being updated, so it can also help you grow and perfect your teaching strategies.

Facebook is one tool that I did not think about before, but upon doing research I found that it can be a very useful tool. This one is more of an interactive tool that not only allows you to connect with other teachers, but with parents as well. Parents are more likely to follow teachers facebook page, and that not only keeps parents up to date, but it helps teachers better communicate with families. Facebook can serve as a mini blog page.
