In this section, I will go over some of my favorite assessment tools!
Google forms is a great way to assess students. It allows teachers the freedom to create quizzes using a variety of option. It is also a very easy to use tool. They way Google Forms is set up, makes it so easy for any teacher to create a quiz or test for students. I can also lessen the load for teachers because it automatically grades students submissions if there is a key provided.
Kahoot is another great assessment tool! This is a very interactive tool, that makes test taking a lot more fun and it makes students try more come time to take quizzes or tests. The way the site is formatted, you are able to add questions, pictures, and videos to add depth to the questions you are asking. Not only does it turn assessments into a fun game, teachers can also download their student's results.
Quizlet is a tool that I became more acquainted with in college, but it can be used in early grade levels. Teachers can create flashcards that pertain to a certain lesson. Then, quizlet can take over. They provide various learning tools, like matching, true or false, or the regular read the word and flip it to see the other side. It is a very great way to assess students as well because it also has a test feature on there as well. It will create a randomized test that students can take.
Padlet is another great tool for assessing students. Not all assessments have to be graded and recorded. Sometimes, we just need students to verbally come out and say how they are feeling about a certain lesson, especially on the lessons that might be a little trickier to understand. Through Padlet, teachers can create columns and allow children to add their name in their area of comfort. Whether it be great, or struggling. That way, teachers can get an idea f where all of her students stand.
Jamboard is similar to Padlet. Students are given a prompt or question and they are able to post up sticky notes answering questions. These notes can be anonymous, and they can be color coded. It is also a great way to see where your students stand. Whether it be by stating something new they learned, or questions they might have.
Socrative is an interactive digital tool that allow teachers to assign quizzes to students. It allows teachers to create polls, assess quick answer questions that an be answered anonymously or with students names attached to the answers. It also provides teachers with grades real time, so teachers can use those answers to either go over something they might be missing or ensure students have grasped the lesson.
Mentimeter is a very fun assessment tool. It has a variety of tools like quizzes, polls, icebreakers, post lecture surveys, formative assessments, and so much more. It is a tool that is free of charge and it is also very easy to use. It has so many different tools, that you might not need to look anywhere else. All of your assessment needs might be right here on this website.
Poll Everywhere is a great tool to see where students stand. It allows teachers to create polls regarding a certain topic. Then students will pase a URL that has been shared with the class and they will answer. Everything can be anonymous, so students do not have to feel anxious about answering truthfully or providing feedback. It is a simple and easy to use tool that can be used quickly to see where students stand.
