A jellinu (or subpecies) may have only one type of jelly present on its body. Hybrids and chimeras can more than one jelly type.
Jelly Neck Formation
Art by Pink
Jellinu usually possess fragile necks, featuring unique slits that facilitate the growth of their distinctive round jelly necks. It's important to acknowledge that this development may vary among Jellinu lacking classic jelly.
To maintain their jelly's freshness, Jellinu commonly contract the bubble encasing their necks, recycling it. However, this procedure can strain their bodies, so they regenerate their neck bubbles only as needed.
Properties:
Classic jelly boasts a smooth, soft, and wobbly texture, with a gelatinous surface that feels cool and slippery to the touch. It's firm yet springy, holding its form while jiggling when moved. Thanks to oxygenation, it can encase objects, even live creatures. It's also edible and flavored, influenced by a Jellinu's diet.
Crystal Jelly takes on various shapes and levels of hardness and weight, with Jellinu possessing this type often experiencing slowed movement as the crystals hinder their mobility. The jelly is opaque and rigid, with its hardness ranging from brittle to tough. In some cases, Jellinu with this jelly type may not form it properly, resulting in a geode-like appearance or the formation of small rock clusters within the crystal.
Glass Jelly is transparent and sturdy, yet susceptible to shattering under forceful impact. It has the capability to hold liquids and objects, with its form moldable under high heat. The outer layer may range from transparent to slightly opaque, exhibiting either rigidity or elasticity. Cracks pose a fatal risk to the Jellinu but can be repaired through heat treatment. Jellinu with glass jelly often fill their necks with personal trinkets for comfort or adornment.
Gas Jelly is light, wispy, and often scented, lingering around the Jellinu in a gentle fog. Inhalation of large amounts can cause choking, and its scent typically reflects the Jellinu's diet. Jellinu with this type of jelly can disperse their fog or absorb harmful gases, purifying them in the process.
The outer layer is a resin-like jelly substance that can be molded into different shapes but becomes fixed once hardened. Inside, the liquid jelly is oilier, causing objects to float slowly. While the outer resin layer is transparent, the inner jelly can be any color and is not transparent.
Cloud Jelly is dense and solid, allowing a Jellinu to float gracefully through the air. This jelly type is known to change color based on the Jellinu's mood—when sad, it may drip rain, and when anxious, it can produce a thunder-like rumble. Jellinu with Cloud Jelly can also form various cloud shapes beyond the typical rounded, fluffy forms, ranging from any cloud type and, on rare occasions, even resembling fog.
Jellinu born with flame jelly are able to use minor flame abilities. Fire Jelly is not transparent but highly fluid. Its temperature and shape vary based on the Jellinu's mood; intense emotions lead to higher temperatures and brighter colors, while calmness lowers temperature and size. Touching it is possible only with the Jellinu's permission, as it can cause severe burns otherwise.
Metal Jelly is opaque and metallic in appearance, varying in color and toxic if consumed. It's free-flowing, capable of changing shape temporarily, leaving a trail behind. An extremely thin film prevents complete spillage.
Mochi Jelly is opaque, with a solid color and a gooey inner layer of a different shade. It's both extremely squishy and stretchy, with a tough outer layer and a softer inner layer. It can be filled with various objects or foods.
Rubbery, tough, and slightly squishy, it can be torn into smaller pieces and ranges from opaque to translucent. It bubbles up when in contact with liquids or physical pressure, emitting non-toxic scents based on the jellinu's diet. Once born, it cannot be shaped or molded.
Gummi jelly is famous for its variety of shapes and its smooth, glossy appearance. It is typically sweet and has a slight bounce when squeezed. While gummi jelly holds its shape well, it will break if bent or pulled too hard. The inside is quite sticky, whereas the exterior remains firm
