Autodraw Notes

Autodraw is one of my favorite tools! I can draw with my mousepad (or finger on a tablet) and Autodraw will use machine-learning to guess what is being drawn - and then replace my low-quality scribble with a professional image! I can insert text, colors, and download my image to share on another tool such as Slides or Seesaw.

The example below was created by a Kindergarten pair. We listened to a WOW in the World episode and the kids took 1- or 2-word notes on what sounded important. We then compared and synthesized lists to highlight the most important ideas. From that list, students used Autodraw to summarize important points from the episode. The students could then use that a guide to retell the episode!

While the drawing may look abstract, the episode was about: jumping spiders live in forests and mountains; males have red faces and jump (dance) to attract the females; if the female doesn't like the dance, she eats the male. I'd say these two did a great job with their retelling using Autodraw!

These examples are from graduate students who were working on this strategy. They listened to an episode on how scientists are tracking bees to help prevent colony collapse disorder. The adults enjoyed creating these as much as students do!
