Each year, we ask high school age (15-20 years) youth who live or go to school in Jefferson County to apply and interview for internships. The goal of the internship is to elevate youth voice in our county related to three issues:
Substance misuse risk or protective factors
Interpersonal violence social norms
Hopelessness and anxiety causes and solutions
Youth interns participate in the following ways:
Meetings and trainings
Designing & facilitating a youth town hall with activities designed to hear what youth are experiencing and feeling
Creative outputs to share with community leaders what the youth research interns learned from their peers
