A Little History
When my Johnston 4th cousin tested into the group I was pleased because several members had claimed descent from the Caskieben Johnsons through John & Elizabeth (Lorand's Chart #2 - he had the wife as Lucina).
Over the years I recruited two more descendants of James "Seneca," my line and found one already in the group.
By 2016 when I took over the Olive group there were 4 main groups of descendants:
John & Elizabeth
Benjamin & Margery
Benjamin & Mary Moorman (possibly the son of John & Eliz)
James "Seneca" & Millie Moorman married in 1 Sept 1779.
Since then John & Elizabeth's son James Johnson of Louisa who died after 5 Apr 1825 and who was married to Lucy Moorman, daughter of Andrew turned out to be the brother of Ben & Mary. James attended their wedding and sold property to them at a "family" discount, much lower than going rates.
It also turned out that James & Lucy's son, James was James "Seneca."
2025
We now have two main family groups 1. John & Elizabeth M. and 2. Benjamin & Margery that are closely related, just not sure how. They were neighbors in St. Paul's Parish and Hanover County and members of the Quakers.
There are also a number of descendants of Unknown Affiliation. Some are probably tied back to the above two families. Others may have a more distant relationship.
What we do know is that they are not descendants of the Caskieben Johnsons. Big Y results appear to show that they came from Eastern England.
Olive Group webpages
The page numbering in the family pages will be different than the old site to reflect the new relationships.
NOTE: there is still a lot of research to be done and some questions to be answered.
Future
Unfortunately there are a lot of common names in the Johnson family and they all lived and died about the same time in the same place. The Quaker records help with some of the family members but have also led people to confuse them. Unfortunately Lorand didn't really help clear things up.
I have tried over the years to correct FamilySearch FamilyTree & WikiTree but they keep getting "corrected."
