It provides visual contact with the user and sometimes interactable with hands, used by the Empire and the Rebellion.
Fit with microphones and receivers, and are prevalent throughout the galaxy. The Empire used the standard C1 personal comlink. The comlink is like a minimal voice only communication type of form, unlike the hologram with visuals. They are usually really small and portable.
SUBSPACE TRANSCEIVER
Subspace TRANSCEIVERS are the devices that communicate in space, a hypothetical dimension that allows transmissions to bypass normal space-time limitations.
The holonet is essentially the galaxy-wide communications network — think of it as a combination of the internet, television, and long-distance calling, all wrapped in sci-fi tech. It's a critical piece of infrastructure in the galaxy, especially for a civilization as massive and spread out across the galaxy.
