Office managers and financial coordinators were begging for an easier way to take payments from their patients and have the payment automatically post to their account. This sounds straight foward in today's modern dental practices, however some practices wanted to update their processes and hardware. Our task was to create an updated user experience based on our established design patterns.
Essentially we had to figure out how an admin (user) would configure their settings credit card payments for each location, workstation, database tenant, and connecting a payment terminal device.
Additionally, provide a delightful and intuitive user experience for the person taking the payment and processing the amount to the patients account.
This project was on going for approximately 2 years . During this time as the lead designer, I worked directly with the product owner and development team to identify the how we would create this user experience from scratch .
As the UX designer of the agile development team, we met daily to give updates on progress and identify any blockers or unsolved logic we have discovered during our sprint schedules.
My primary deliverables were a high fidelity interactive prototype that evolved as the project grew. I would deliver updates to this prototype daily and demonstrate the intent of the design to our developers and stakeholders. Any feedback would be given directly and updates to the prototype would be delivered to the developer usually within the same day.
