History

In 2020, Nana and Bea collaborated to start an environmentally focused club at Burroughs. COVID-19 impacted everyone hugely and in compulsion we had to isolate ourselves for a long period of time. However, during this quarantine period, our environment has become cleaner because of reduced transportation, which was observable in many places in the world. This inspired Nana and Bea to help make John Burroughs High School more environmentally friendly and to inspire our community to do the same.

Hello! My name is Nana Bhambi. I am one of the founders of Eco Club and a freshman at John Burroughs High School. I am a tutor at an organization and school and I participate in a lot of other clubs. I think that everyone needs to start being aware of the environment and all issues surrounding our only planet with life, Earth. With starting this club, I hope I can make a difference and help raise awareness as much as possible with this amazing group of people.

Hi! I'm Bea Park and I am a co-founder of the JBHS Eco Club! I am a freshman and part of extracurriculars like choir, piano, and other clubs. While this year has been challenging, I am thrilled to have started a club devoted to helping our environment. I am very passionate about helping our planet and glad to be spreading awareness through this group.

Ms. Robyn Russon

Hello Everyone! I am honored to be the club advisor for the Eco-Club. For the past 22 years I have been a Health Teacher at John Burroughs High School. Additionally, I have been the Global Health Instructor for the JBHS Medical Academy since 2017. Working with teenagers to broaden their knowledge of themselves and the world around them is my calling!

Hi everyone! My name is Cindy Avila and I am sophomore at John Burroughs. I am Eco Club's Secretary and I'm so glad to be a part of this club so that we can raise awareness on climate change and make a difference at our school!

Hello! I hope your day is going well. My name is Danielle Bax and I'm a freshman at JBHS. I am one of the vice presidents of Eco Club. I'm involved in extra curriculars such choir and softball. One of the most important things to me is that the impact that I make is a good one.

Hi! My name is Stephanie Hernandez and I'm a freshman at John Burroughs. I am one of Eco Club's co-communicators and co-researchers. I'm beyond happy to be a part of the Eco Club where we help spread awareness, donate to environmental causes, and are working towards a more eco-friendly community.

Hey everybody! My name is Evan Hoyle and I am a senior at John Burroughs High School! I am also one of Eco Club's Co-Communicators! I'm ecstatic to be a part of this club, and to spread awareness as well as actively help make a positive change to our own environment!

I am a sophomore at John Burroughs High School. I am apart of the club Women in STEM as well as the Engineering Academy at our school. I joined this club in hopes to bring awareness of the dire situation our planet is currently in and how to help it.
