SEALs stands for sea, estuary, air, and land, it is a civic science program dedicated to monitoring the health of the Hudson-Raritan Estuary.
I spent two weeks on the global research vessel SSV Corwith Cramer sailing in the New England area. While aboard I learned about various forms of oceanographic testing as well as had the opportunity to observe marine life in their natural habitat. I also gained knowledge on how to maintain a tall ship ranging from steering the ship and adjusting the sails to conducting safety checks of the engine room and various gear aboard.
A non-partisan climate action committee that mobilizes students to engage Congress and other elected officials to act on climate issues. Through this program, I have met with Councilmembers from New York City such as Christopher Marte, Erik Bottcher, and Keith Powers.
The NYU Gallatin Wetlab is a space where Art and Science meet and students, artists, and researchers fight climate change through creativity. Through this, there was a collaboration between NYU Gallatin and the Harbor SEALs to create an exhibit examining the relationship between marine debris and climate change. I aided in the facilitation of this exhibit and helped organize a tabling event on October 23, 2022, to discuss the exhibit.
A group further bridging the work of the Billion Oyster Project and the New York Harbor School through community service opportunities.
Develops potential for leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. I acted as a liaison to the student council for the New York Harbor School Chapter.
