Me with two Florida Southern Math Club Officers at our Donuts and Coffee event hosted at the beginning of each semester
While service does involve committees and helping when needed, I have come to realize service as immersing oneself into the life of the college and the forming of relationships with colleagues and students. One of the benefits of being at a small college is the sense of community not just within one department, but also across the college. I have made efforts to show support for my students and colleagues by attending their academic events, athletic games, and various showcases on campus.
Below is a brief list which summarizes some of my service activities described in the following sections of this website:
• I was the faculty Advisor to Florida Southern's math honor society KME during my first year there (2017 – 2018)
• I helped the Florida Southern math department create a new applied mathematics major
• I helped organize the Florida Southern math department's 2018 annual Hartje lecture
• I was the department representative at many events on campus hosting prospective students
• I was an active member of the Honor Code Infraction Review Board, the Travel Committee, and the ASAI Academic Standards Committee while at Florida Southern College
• I organized a trip to bring students to a national math conference in Baltimore for them to give a talk
• I have developed several new special-topics courses
• I organized and co-hosted a Professional Development Initiative with Christian Roberson in spring 2020
• I hosted the SCUDEM II modeling challenge using differential equations at Florida Southern in 2018
• I gave a talk at Florida Southern's Fall Faculty Forum on “Using the Mastery Grade Book in Canvas”
• I worked with department to implement a statistical software into Elementary Statistics MAT 2022
