While ADDIE and other commonly cited instructional design methods are helpful project management approaches, I think it is important to ground educational curriculum & content in well-researched learning models. While I am fairly agnostic as to which model is "best", I tend to align with a general constructivist approach with David Merrill's Principles of Instruction providing a robust visualization of what a well-rounded learning experience should look & feel like.
