Jaz Naylor is a Vancouver Island–based writer, student, and activist whose storytelling blends heart, humour, and a deep commitment to care and justice. Born on the traditional unceded lands of the K’ómoks peoples, Jaz has lived across several Vancouver Island communities before settling in Victoria, BC, on the traditional territories of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples.
A lifelong writer with a background in creative writing, Jaz has won multiple awards for their work, including recognition from the Royal Canadian Legion for several pieces of fictional writing. With a passion for short storytelling and writing, Jaz has honed their craft into curated work for local businesses, including a marketing-style public engagement blog for Four Frames Photo Booth, a beloved company run by two longtime owners who have sustained the business for over 14 years. Alongside this, Jaz has developed a deep love for poetry and spoken word, where their voice finds new ways to stretch, soften, and expand.
When they’re not studying, writing, or advocating, Jaz can often be found tending to their ever-evolving dyed hair, explaining to strangers why they have multiple septum piercings, or haunting local cafés with a notebook in hand. They live a life full of colour, curiosity, and creative mischief, collecting small joys and turning them into stories, one slice at a time.
