Hi, my name is Jasmin Naylor (Jaz)!

I’m a 21-year-old student and blossoming professional, proudly part of the queer, disabled, and gender non-conforming community. Each of these identities shapes how I move through the world and informs the work I’m committed to exploring and uplifting!

I was born and raised on Vancouver Island, on the unceded territories of the K’ómoks Peoples. Over the years, I’ve lived in several vibrant island communities before settling on the unceded territories of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples, lands that continue to influence my values, relationships, and sense of belonging.

As the oldest of five siblings, I grew up understanding what it means to take responsibility for those around me. Leading with patience, kindness, and generosity isn’t something I learned later; it’s been woven into me from the start, and it continues to guide how I work, study, create, and connect with others.

I’ve been a creative writer and lifelong storyteller, always drawn to the ways people communicate, build relationships, and make meaning together. My passion for social justice took root in high school and now plays a central role in my academic journey at the University of Victoria, where I study gender studies, social justice, and community-centred practice with a focus on ethical storytelling.

Beyond academics, I bring more than seven years of experience in retail, customer service management, and product merchandising. These roles taught me adaptability, empathy, and strong communication skills that I bring to every space, whether I’m collaborating in a classroom, facilitating an event, writing a research paper, or engaging with community organizations.

Today, I’m weaving together my creative strengths, academic interests, lived experience, and hands-on professional background into a path rooted in care, advocacy, and curiosity.
