JALT BizCom SIG

What Is the BizCom SIG?
The JALT Business Communication Special Interest Group (BizCom SIG) promotes advancements in business communication education, research, and practice.

The SIG focuses on a wide range of business communication areas, including business writing, technical communication, information systems, international business communication, management communication, and organizational and corporate communication.

Our members include professors, researchers, and professionals interested in language and communication issues in business and organizational contexts. The SIG brings together scholars from linguistics, communication studies, and management sciences, as well as consultants, trainers, and managers working in multilingual environments.

Through this interdisciplinary approach, the BizCom SIG strengthens connections between research, education, and professional practice.

Events
Since 2016, the BizCom SIG has organized face-to-face conferences in Fukuoka, Osaka, and Tokyo, featuring plenary speakers from Japan, Asia, and Europe.

The SIG has also organized online webinars in collaboration with Business English teaching groups worldwide and coordinated English for Specific Purposes (ESP) events in Osaka and Tokyo.
