3D Animation Studio III

Logline

A giant potter faces an everyday struggle when his large size hinders his pursuit of the fine art of pottery making.

Basic Premise

Our potterymaker is going about his day in his studio, making his next project (a mug, etc). Just as he is about to finish the final glaze he accidentally knocks it off his worktable and it breaks into pieces. He proceeds to gather the pieces, adding them to his growing collection of D.I.Y fairy garden planters and mosaics before setting up his workstation to start all over again.

Concept

The concept for my studio iii film is based on the metaphor "a bull in a china shop". The character is a giant of a man who breaks the figurative mold by following his passion to create ceramics and pottery instead of something more realistic to his size. He loves what he does and handles his creations with painstaking care but still unintentionally knocks things over, bumps into objects, and ultimately breaks some of his beloved work. Nonetheless he is steadfast in his pursuit and has repurposed the broken pieces of pottery into new creations of mosaics and fairy garden planters for his many plants. The moral of the story being to never give up on what you love even if the realities of life may work against you and that we can always make the best of what might go wrong.

Film Genre

I would catergorize this film idea as a "feel-good" film; meaning it will present a person and life in a way intending to make people who watch it feel happy and optimistic. The narrative structure of the film is not traditional and presents the characters main "obstacle" as something more abstract (stereotypes) represented by something mundane (broken mug).
