Please continue with the "Video with Questions" on the Character Strong website. This week, the focus is on Empathy and Courage.
Empathy is especially important for school age children because it is key to reducing bullying incidents. When children can understand the needs and feelings of others, they are less likely to engage in bullying behaviors. It also strengthens a sense of community in classrooms and promotes compassion for others.
Courage involves making good choices in the face of fear or obstacles. Building courage at a young age can also build resilience and self confidence. Courage is not the absence of fear, but the strength to move forward and continue to do the right thing, even when we are nervous or afraid.
