Passing in the 2022 World Cup
Passing in the 2022 World Cup
These graphs show the completed passes (black) and shot-creating passes (red) for four of the most creative players that made it far (at least to the quarter-finals) in the 2022 World Cup: Lionel Messi, Luka Modrić, Antoine Griezmann, and Bruno Fernandes. We can see that even for these four players, who are not all especially known for being corner specialists, corners were a very successful shot-creating action in the World Cup. Considering that the tournament comes down to seven games, teams would be remiss to not hire a set piece coach or utilize Google's AI Tactics assistant to help with maximizing their chances from corners, as often times, one goal can make all the difference.
